The communities where GreenSafe calls “home”
form a key element in our sustainable strategic plan.
In the recycling industry, facilities are
located where the material is generated. This makes good sense to
those operators who collect one-off end-of-life appliances on a
door-to-door basis from jobbers, as it minimizes their labour and
travel time.
GreenSafe is not a recycler but a
demanufacturer.
GreenSafe does not pick up goods from the
homeowner who had bid farewell to a well used appliance or
electronic device. We collect in bulk from feedstock providers who
can be manufacturers, retailers, utilities or waste operations.
This is a major difference, as collection from
a homeowner under a refrigerator culling program costs the utility
about $ 50 to pick up. GreenSafe can move the same fridge about
2,000 kilometres for the same per unit cost.
In choosing the right home for a
state-of-the-art GreenSafe plant, we look at the following:
The Community:
The Work Force:
The Location:
The Cost of Doing Business:
A typical GreenSafe plant, at capacity, will
provide small towns with approximately 170 full time jobs. Each
position offers competitive salaries, benefits and profit sharing in
a team oriented setting.
What also differentiates GreenSafe as a
demanufacturer as opposed to a recycler is the look and care of our
facilities.
From the curb side, each structure is large,
clean and bright. Every transportation vehicle is unloaded indoors.
At no time will a neighbour see used appliances or electronics
sitting outdoors.
Inside, all of our plants are LEED rates structures (125,000 sq. ft.) which make the best use of natural sunlight, recovered rainwater and so forth. Lighting and air quality will exceed every standard. Further, our equipment is designed that a person can have a conversation without talking loudl
