The GreenSafe Story

GreenSafe Demanufacturing Inc. is committed to the safe, convenient and environmentally responsible demanufacturing of all appliances. GreenSafe specializes in the environmentally-safe handling of CFC’s from all domestic cooling units (refrigerators, freezers and air conditioners) as well as the safe and environmentally sound handling of all other appliances at end of life. The Company has secured long term contracts from major feedstock providers of white goods, who are seeking a verifiable solution to the appropriate disposal of these appliances. Governments at all levels are taking a closer look at regulations which will demand proper handling of these items to prevent harming the environment.

The equipment suppliers to GreenSafe have provided design specifications that insure almost 100% of the inputs will be recovered and that in every commodity class, GreenSafe will have over 95% separation.

The Company has been provided with 10 acres of serviced industrial land on which to build a 100k square-foot facility and given a five-year municipal tax rebate. The site is adjacent to a former railway right-of-way which will be operational two years after the opening of the facility, while the area offers lower labour and occupancy costs as well as the business-friendly attitude of all levels of government.  Rigorous financial analysis suggests that it remains cheaper to move appliances from as far away as Chicago, Toronto and Jacksonville and  return the by-products to the originating centres than to process in those cities.

GreenSafe is currently in discussions with the largest national white goods manufacturer and several major national retailers, all of whom are seeking an effective solution to the end-of-life issue. We offer verifiable proof of the elimination of CFC’s as well as recapture of nearly 100% of all materials being deconstructed.  ISO 14001 certification will be granted immediately following the start-up of the facilities.

GreenSafe will be able to attractively price its demanufacturing fee for a close-to-negligible amount, thus saving the consumer/retailer a considerable tipping fee.  The absence of a fee will add an effective consumer inducement for a higher return rate of end-of-life appliances. Our model has assumed the currently observed return rate of 70% which is below the 90% rate observed in many parts of the United States.

GreenSafe operates a state-of-the-art facility, destroying CFC’s and extracting all of the elements more efficiently than any other operator in Canada or the US. Our facility will even handle more product than new projects being considered within the United States. The GreenSafe plant will convert CFC’s, not  burn them. In fact, unused CFC conversion time can be used to convert CFC’s collected by other recyclers. Canadian legislation is more advanced than in the US, as Canadians culturally have a higher respect for the environment. CFC 11 and 12 and their successor products have long been banned in Canada.

In anticipation of increasingly stringent legislation throughout North America restricting the handling of ozone-depleting chemicals, retailers and manufacturers of white goods are already attempting to insure their access to GreenSafe’s demanufacturing operations.  Manufacturers and retailers alike want to insure they avoid both the coming legal penalties and the current financial burden of warehousing vast quantities of obsolete toxic appliances.

By reliably handling huge volumes of appliances with state-of-the-art machinery and unprecedented environmental safety, GreenSafe has positioned itself as the demanufacturer of choice.
